‘LACK OF BRAIN TO THE OXYGEN’…

Wait a minute that’s not right… it’s ‘Lack of OXYGEN, to the BRAIN’… phew! That just about sums up Monday nights workout. It definitely tested our stamina for sure.surprised

I’m pretty focused when I enter Bootcamp, I stare down the writing on the wall, thinking if I stare at it hard and mean enough it’ll disappear – No such luck. My mind is all about counting and watching the clock, gauging how much longer, my body just follows to just get it done. Of course now we have Sven, he keeps time, telling us ’5 seconds down, 1/2 way, 10 seconds left’… sometimes I don’t need to hear what my mind is already telling me, I just need to keep kickin’ it.

So on Monday night, I’m adding up the seconds… 30/15 for 6 exercises, 90 seconds active rest… how many times through will we be doing? usually a 20 minute burner = 4 times through… ok, was that one time through, or was that two?… my brain is always going, my body is following the stare down of each exercise. I’m in the 4th set, collapsed on the floor after finishing the side pillars ‘I don’t want to get up’, but there’s only 2 more exercises, 1 minute of work, in ’5-4-3-2-1′… keep going… Finished! yeh!

…. then WHAM! … Dean says “One more time through”…. huh?! But, but, my timing, by my calculations… we are done! Now I have to muster through again?! I have to 1 arm lift weights again? I don’t think I can even pick it up off the ground, let alone pull it up to my chest! OK no time to whine. I’ll figure where my calculations went seriously wrong~ get the job done… I’m running in place, look around to the other red, flushed faces, they are pushing to the limit (an awesome sight). Finish Strong, finish…. strroonngg! I look up, sucking wind, and say to Dean ‘that was not a 20 or 25 minute workout’, nope it was 30 minutes! Huh?… no class is the same… that’s Bootcamp! Putting my mind and body to the test.

I’m back for more on Tuesday… stare down the wall of exercises…’ lunges, squats, chins, vertical pushups, dynamic planks’… I look at the timing…it’s Tabata Tuesday- 8 times/20seconds. The finisher… ‘sexy legs’ – uh oh! it’s gonna be a spaghetti leg day! Time to get down to business… How many times through was that so far? I’m counting my reps, trying to keep the same number each time. We jam out our workout. I look at Nancy’s concerned face – are you ok? My reply…. “MY BRAIN IS RUSHING TO MY BLOOD”… ahhh nuts!!!!… I mean… “my BLOOD is rushing to my BRAIN”
